Former US President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that divine intervention helped him avoid an assassination attempt during a campaign event in Pennsylvania.
He urged fellow Americans to unite in 'not letting Evil to Win', saying, "It was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening."
The former President of the United States was "shot with a bullet that pierced his ear" in an attempted assassination on Saturday, just before the presidential election.
The 78-year-old was taken from the stage of a rally in Pennsylvania following shooting, which killed the shooter and a bystander and badly injured two onlookers
"I knew something was wrong when I heard a whizzing sound, gunfire, and felt the bullet rip through my skin.
"There was a lot of bleeding, and I realized what was going on," he explained.
"In this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand united, and show our true character as Americans, remaining strong and determined, and not allowing Evil to win,"
Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform Sunday morning, confirming his attendance at the Republican National Convention, which begins Monday in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
